NO, Mr. Bloomberg, the federal government may NOT do what they please. In fact, they may do ONLY what the U.S. Constitution authorizes them to do. ALL other powers are reserved for the states and the people BY THE CONSTITUTION.

Bloomberg: Daschle says, "Health care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them," while former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm says seniors have "a duty to die."

If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that the President, Senators and Congressmen have their own special gold plated health care plan which is guaranteed the remainder of their lives and they are not subject to this new law if they pass it.

One example is this Msnbc.com article titled 'Senators aim to craft streamlined health plan'. What makes them think that a 'streamlined', or less-expensive, plan will be any different?

The American people understand that ANY government plan will grow into a system larger than initially proposed and has a 100% chance of costing several orders of magnitude more than initially suggested.

Why do the politicians not understand that we DO NOT want the government involved? Which means than any reform MUST occur within the FREE-MARKET!! The simple truth is that health care reform must begin with these changes:

1) Tort reform
2) Allow competition between insurance companies (remove interstate competition barriers), this will allow the free-market to bring prices down
3) Remove restrictions that prohibit catastrophic only insurance

That politicians think a government run plan will be better for Americans, despite the loud voice of opposition and alternate suggestions, is an obvious sign that our Republic is getting frighteningly close to Tyranny.

Tobacco Tax Hike Provides Free-Market Lesson To Socialists

The largest tax increase on tobacco in U.S. history took place recently. See this USA today article. This measure was passed last year to help fund the State Children's Health Insurance Program, was vetoed by former president Bush, but recently signed by president Barack Obama.

First of all, let's make clear that businesses do not pay for these tax increases. The article points out the obvious truth - the tobacco companies pass the increased cost on to consumers. The federal tax has increased from 39 cents to $1.01 per pack!

The socialist's insanity is first revealed by the conflicting goals of burdensome taxation. On the one hand it is hoped that more people might quit smoking which would help to improve everyone's health. On the other hand the tax money helps fund an insurance program for children, so people must smoke for that program to be funded.

The worthiness of either goal is not in question, only the means by which they are being sought.

So, what has been the effect of this increased taxation? Not surprisingly, smokers are addressing the issue by the only means left to them - they are growing their own tobacco! Seed suppliers have been literally overwhelmed with new orders since the new taxes took effect. One company has sold in ninth months this year over four times their entire last year's sales.

The lesson for socialists here is people do not change their behavior when FORCED. This unheard of increase in taxation has not created an overwhelming desire of smokers to quit an healthy habit. Nor has it created an overwhelming resignation of smokers to pay the tax increase to 'help the children'. But it HAS created an overwhelming anger at the government that is forcing them to seek other means to maintain their chosen lifestyle.

Home tobacco growers are angry and speak out but many of them refused to speak to the press because they feared government scrutiny and taxes. When a group of citizens is fearful of their own government can we believe that freedom still exists? Does that sound like the type of government that our founding fathers intended to create?

Read the comments to any of these news articles and see they directly mirror those of angry Tea Party and Town Hall "mobs". They are tired of our over-burdensome and un-representative government, that just cannot stop trying to fix every ailment of society by extending it's tentacles into every area of the free-market that is forbidden it by the United States Constitution.

During an Obama protest in Arizona, an open-carry state, about a dozen people were wearing their firearms including one (a black man) with an assault rifle. See man with Assault Rifle attends Obama protest.

One negative reaction was: "When you start to bring guns to political rallies, it does layer on another level of concern and significance. It actually becomes quite scary for many people. It creates a chilling effect in the ability of our society to carry on honest communication."

Another was: "To me, this is craziness. When you bring a loaded gun, particularly a loaded assault rifle, to any political event, but particularly to one where the president is appearing, you're just making the situation dangerous for everyone."

What these ninnies don't understand or acknowledge is that they are in the presence of concealed weapons every single day of their life without knowing it. That these are political rallies with the president in attendance is irrelevant.

Does the 2nd Amendment say you may legally carry a gun except anywhere near the president? Can the legislature define any person by status or title or anything else that negates the rights of people in their presence?

That would No and No.

And the reality is that these "gun-bearers" are most likely to be VERY law-abiding and respectful people, as well as the most likely to defend their president against physical violence despite their disagreements with him. These events are a safer place with them in attendance. As is anyplace that legal, trained concealed-weapons bearers are present. It is not "chilling or "scary" or "crazy" or "dangerous" at all.

I know I feel safer while wearing mine. I know that I feel safer when I know that others are. I know that I feel safer when armed policeman are around. Just what is so hard to understand about that?

People with "evil intent" are the problem, armed or not. Good people are not a problem, armed or not.

The gun-control advocate's reactions are both ignorant and insulting.

Newsweek Health Care Myths Article is Pure Propaganda

This Newsweek article purports to expose the seven biggest myths of the health care reform debate. Oh really, well lets take a look. (or jump to the proof at the bottom of this post)

Newsweek myth #1. False: Government Will Decide What Care I Get
The government will set up a bureaucracy to track research and advise doctors on what treatments are working best. But current reform proposals have language that specifically disallows the government from mandating coverage. Does that make you feel all comfy and cozy now? Me neither.

If health care reform is meant to only provide a public option, that supporters say will only be taken advantage of by a small percentage of the population, then why does the government even need to track research? Is our current system incompetent? And how much weight do you think the governments "advice" to doctors will carry, limiting clauses aside? How long do you think it will be before new legislation eliminates those clauses and allows for some government mandating of coverage? And then a little more. And then a little more.

Sorry, but if the government isn't going to mandate care then they don't need a bureaucracy that advises doctors over and above what the private industry does today. Do you trust the government to forever mind it's own business if it's paying for care? Me neither.

Newsweek myth #2. False: The Bill Is Paid For
Actually, all I've heard from our politicians is that they aren't sure how health care reform will be paid for. The fact that it even NEEDS to be paid for is reason enough for me to recognize the system as a boondoggle and a false fix. The claim by Newsweek that this is a even a myth is ignorant and meant to distract from actual issues.
Claim #2 truth. Bogus Claim

Newsweek myth #3. False: Private Insurance Will Be Illegal
Newsweek provides one resource for this claim. The actual claim is that over time private insurance will be forced out of business due to price controls in the health care bill. Why would a public option, that supporters say will only be taken advantage of by a small percentage of the population, need to enforce price controls on the rest of the industry? Think long and hard about that one please.

Oh, and by the way, I haven't heard a single health-care politician discuss the price controls aspect of this bill. Rather, they are all out there trying to sell us on how benign the reform will be. Really? Well then why don't they talk about how this bill will effect private insurance? Time to think long and hard again.

Nice bit of propaganda for Newsweek to claim that dissenters think private insurance will be illegal when the language of the reform bills is clearly designed to subvert private insurance. They are playing along with the politicians who can claim that the bill preserves private insurance. It's not true.

Shopkeeper Shotgun Defense Reveals Moral Truth

Another simple truth illuminated by the story of two dead and two injured after shopkeeper defends his store from armed robbers.

Four armed robbers entered the store and immediately asked, "Where's the money?". The shopkeeper told them there wasn't any and to leave. When it looked like they were about to start shooting he reached for his shotgun and shot the robbers.

A neighbor said the shooter "was defending his work, his business, so you could perceive that as being heroic...But on the other hand, these kids died."

Excuse me, but would you prefer that, on the other hand, the employees of the store were shot and killed? Wouldn't that be sad also? So given the choice of law abiding people POSSIBLY dying and a bad guy POSSIBLY dying the only moral choice is the latter.

As Ted Nugent says - it's better when the victim lives and the bad guy dies.

Atheists Free Speech Bus Ad - Understanding Free Speech Rights

The Iowa Atheists & Free Thinkers group had their ads on City buses removed and then replaced - Ads for Atheists Stir Up Uree Speech Debate.

The Des Moines area RTA is talking about their policy of not accepting ads with the word "God" in it. The atheist are talking about their surprise in the ad pulling and that they are not trying to offend anyone.

They both are missing the First Amendment free speech boat. Let get the simple fact's straight people:

Your right to free speech doesn't have anything to do with religion or God, or not.

Your right to free speech doesn't have anything to do with whether or not you are being offensive. (libel and slander issues aside)

Your right to free speech does not include the right to a medium for your free speech.

Aha! What was that last one again? Just because the right to free speech is protected, that doesn't mean that a bus company, or a radio station, or a newspaper is required to print YOUR opinion. They have a right to decide who they will or will not accept payment for advertising from.

But, but, how can I get my message out? By any legal means you are able to acquire. You can't post your ads on the side of a bus without paying for it, and you can't force a bus company to accept payment. Free speech, like free enterprise, involves the voluntary consent of each party.

Ayn Rand put it this way, "Freedom of speech means freedom from interference, suppression or punitive action by the government—and nothing else. It does not mean the right to demand the financial support or the material means to express your views...A “right” does not include the material implementation of that right by other men...". I am sympathetic to the atheist group, but if the RTA doesn't want to accept their ad they don't have to.

Option to Government -run Health Care Reform

Senator Specter stated at a town hall meeting recently that he wouldn't vote for a health care plan that increases the deficit. I guess that means he won't vote for a plan that includes any government run option?

Even health care reform proponents aren't sure how the program will be funded. But the very nature of a program needing to BE funded, means it will cost taxpayers - somehow. Why is no-one looking at what is wrong with private health care and suggesting private-industry fixes?

The reason is because our system is actually quite socialistic already! See The Myth of Free Market Health Care in America. The answer to a system that has been screwed up by government intrusion is not to mandate MORE government intrusion.

When the government mandates that a person cannot buy only catastrophic care, insurance costs will go up. When insurance covers non-unforeseen events, like teeth-cleanings and regular check-ups, insurance costs go up.

Whole Foods founder and CEO John Mackey describes an option to more government meddling in health care in this Wall Street Journal Article.

Our current situation is described no more clearly than this quote by Ronald Reagan, "Government is not the solution to our problem, government IS the problem."

1) The general public's fear of guns is unwarranted. At any public gathering there is likely to be many people carrying legal concealed handguns. You have probably been in the presence of a half-dozen legal concealed handguns the last time you ate out at a large restaurant or visited a large bar or nightclub. To make an issue of a
a man wearing a legal open-carry handgun is evidence of only the general public's ignorance of 2nd Amendment issues.

2) William Kostric, as an informed and trained citizen, was no more a danger to anyone, most especially the president, than any of the informed and trained and ARMED police officers present that day. At a town hall meeting in New Hampshire Obama said that private insurers would be able to compete with a public plan. "UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. ... It's the Post Office that's always having problems.", he said.

Uh, excuse me, Mr. President, but UPS and FedEx came about because there was a need that the government was not fulfilling (and that it had no mandate or responsibility to fill). Just because the private sector competes with the government when it comes to delivering packages, that doesn't mean the government should set about to compete with the private sector for ANYTHING.

It's a question of 'the chicken or the egg'. Under Mr. Obama's analogy the correct discussion to have to is - "is it time to privatize letter delivery?". There is NEVER a proper time to socialize a private industry under the U.S. Constitution.

Oh, and if it's 'the Post Office that's always having problems' - then why should we expect government run health care to be any different.

President Obama will address a town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Tuesday. White House senior adviser David Axelrod said, "...it's time to make sure everyone knows the facts...about health insurance reform".

There only one fact that's relevant, and it's the only fact you can be sure noone will be talking about: The federal government has NO CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY, whatsoever, to stick it's paws into health care. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. NADA......PERIOD.

Of course, politicians would claim the general welfare clause as a defense. And why not, they've been getting away with that for over 100 years. But here's what founding father James Madison had to say about that, "With respect to the words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators."

If politicians are concerned with healthcare, then why not talk about what's WRONG in the first place, and then talk to the involved industries about what needs to change to make it better. Maybe there is something the government can do as far as legislation that could help change things for the better.

But for Obama to simply insist that government taking over a portion of health care is a necessity, and then embarking on nothing less than a sales and propaganda campaign to SELL it? Please. Is it any wonder people at town hall meetings are pissed off!

Listen up Obama and congresspeople! It matters not how wonderful and necessary and brilliant your health care plan might be. YOU HAVE NO AUTHORITY OR RIGHT TO CAUSE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TAKE OVER ANY PART OF PRIVATE INDUSTRY. I guess you've been at it so long, it's just business as usual for you.

But THAT is what these protests and the Tea Parties are about. We The People have had enough of big government! We've had it and we aren't going to take it anymore!

I hope it's no suprise to anyone that Obama might raise taxes to reduce the deficit and pay for health care reform. But can you see how you are being played?

The first Obama stimulus included a tax rebate, similar to what Bush gave the public twice. Now our taxes might be raised because 'we have to fix health care'. How much have taxes been raised or lowered over your adult life? And how much has the change effected your yearly budget? Probably hasn't effected it much at all.

Think people. Can you see how you are being played? If the government can so easily hand out rebates then why don't they just let us keep OUR MONEY in the first place? Why can the government create billion and trillions of dollars with stimulus packages but now WE need to pay for THEIR boondoggle of 'fixing health care'?

Taxes aren't the issue. If you are concerned about the tax issues, one way or the other, concerning health care reform you are being played. The issue is government control. When the government can make you concerned about whether or not your taxes should be raised or lowered - for any reason - you have accepted the premise that the government, in it's wisdom, should be in control of your life.

The founding fathers created a limited federal government which was to be in charged of only specific functions as listed in the U.S. Constitution. The state governments, and thereby the people, were supposed to be MORE powerful than the federal government. The federal government has only two basic mandates:

Protect the rights of the people
Protect the borders of the country

We need to stop looking to the federal government to fix anything. Do you REALLY want to see your taxes go down and the economy, including health care, to improve? Then REDUCE THE SIZE AND CONTROL OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Let the free market rule!

Melvin Watt, D-N.C., said today about a new House bill that would restrict how Wall Street executives are paid, "This is not the government taking over the private corporate sector..." - House votes to restrict Wall Street pay.

Uh, actually, that is exactly what it is, Melvin. It's anti-free market, it's anti-capitalist, it's anti-Constitution. This bill applies to all financial institutions folks, not just the ones that took bailout money.

Oh and by the way, if Congress doesn't think it will approve of how a bank will spend bailout money, the correct thing to do is NOT give them any! To imagine that the government will, somehow, with it's benevolent wisdom (!?!?), be able to fix ANYTHING is nothing less than insanity.

Government cannot fix the free market, government IS the problem with the free market. When fat-cats serving their umpteenth term in Congress think that they know better and they must hand down edicts "for the general public good", well, the general public had better wake up and realize they are deep into the first few chapters of Atlas Shrugged, and the rest of the story GETS WORSE!

Read the constitution folks, the government has NO AUTHORITY whatsoever to do what they are doing. But, then, that hasn't stopped them for the last 100 years or so, now has it?

When will the American people Wake Up?

Who has actually read the police report of Henry Gates' arrest? Officer Crowley's first action, while standing on Gates' front porch, was to ask if he would step outside to speak with him. To which Gates replied, "No I will not." and then demanded to know his name. Crowely replied with his name and that he was investigating the report of a break-in, to which Gates exclaimed, "Why, because I'm a black man in America?".

Heavy Sigh.....

The only issue here is respect for the police. Obviously, Mr. Gates was not guilty of breaking into his own home, but there was no way for the officer to know that. Officer Crowley was respectfully and simply investigating the report of a break in, and was immediately met with hostility and fear. If instead, Mr. Gates had stepped onto the front porch as requested, provided his ID as proof of home ownership, and explained the jambed front door, the entire situation would have been over in a few minutes. That would have been the correct action for a law-abiding respectful citizen, of any race, to take. It is easy to envision their interaction ending with Mr. Gates shaking Officer Crowley's hand and thanking him for keeping watch over the neighborhood. A thank you to Ms. Whalen (the 911 caller) would also have been appropriate. Would you rather a neighbor call or not call 911 if they see someone breaking into your home?

All questions concerning race can be answered with one simple question - "Would it have been possible for Mr. Gates to avoid arrest? - to which to easy answer is - YES. And easily. And without playing any subservient role. This case is simply a misunderstanding made by a concerned neighbor. READ THE REPORT.

I don't know if Gates' ultimate arrest was justified or not, but it certainly wasn't due to racism. It's clear from this CNN Video alone that Crowley is not even close to being a racist. The loud, obnoxious and unjustified accusations hurled at Crowley were totally uncalled for.

Racism would be nearly dead in America if only the unjustified fears of racism could be put to rest.
